'New York City Waterfalls' on Display

I think it's interesting.... can get free ticket to go on a 30-minutes cruise! I've been trying so hard to call but haven't had any luck yet....

'New York City Waterfalls' on Display

About 35,000 gallons of water a minute is roaring into the East River as part of New York City's latest public art happening.

Scandinavian artist Olafur Eliasson flipped the switch on the four 90-
to 120-foot high waterfalls he installed on the East River. The
man-made waterfalls cost $15.5 million and intend to help city dwellers
appreciate the area's natural beauty.



The waterfalls are installed at Pier 35, under the Brooklyn Bridge, on the Brooklyn Heights waterfront and at Governors Island.



The waterfalls will be on display through Oct. 13 and run 7 a.m. to 10
p.m. each day. Each will also be illuminated after sundown.



It's not a new idea. Landscape artist Frederick Law Olmstead had a
similar idea 150 years ago when he installed a series of waterfalls in
Manhattan.



The project comes from the Public Art Fund and required $13.5 million
in private donations, including a gift from Bloomberg L.P. and the
Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.
